Finding Our Church & Parking

The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Detroit is located at 4605 Cass Avenue in Detroit, at the corner of Cass & Forest. We are in the heart of the Wayne State University / Cultural Center area in midtown. We are proud to be part of the Cass Corridor Commons, a multi-use non-profit and green space managed by the East Michigan Environmental Action Council (EMEAC).

The information below applies to church parking which is available for our worship services on Sunday morning. During the week, when the building is being utilized by the various Cass Corridor Commons organization, the preferred parking option for church visitors is in the section of the Prentis lot in the alley. This is described in more detail below.

The church uses two parking lots -- one is right on the church's doorsteps, while the other is across Prentis Street. This page provides the pictures you need to find and park at our church:

The star on the map below shows the location of the church in relation to major Detroit freeways in midtown Detroit:

Here are street level photos of the parking lots. Good luck, and we hope you enjoy your First UU Detroit visit...

Prentis Lot

Owned by the church, this lot is on the south side of Prentis (one block south of Forest) between Cass and 2nd Avenue. The entire lot is available for church parking on Sunday. We rent out spaces to the Motor City Brewery at other times, but the 20 spaces along the alley (east side of lot -- to the left in this photo) are available for church visitors at all times.

Church Lot

Closest to the church, it has only a few places. We therefore recommend leaving its use to those for whom use of one of the other lots would be a significant hardship.

Note: Two spots in this lot are marked as reserved for Pilates classes. On Sundays (only) it is okay to use these spots for church attendance.
